Thinking Patterns for the Digital Age

Dr Michael Rosemann

Professor and Head of Information Systems School at Queensland Institute of Technology

The emergence of the digital economy has shifted the focus from automating and streamlining processes (economy of corporations) to empowering end users (economy of people). Organisations, which may have successfully embraced the age of automation to achieve operational efficiency, are likely to struggle to ensure revenue resilience in the rapidly changing digital age . This presentation shines the light on the new class of customers and competitors. It shows how opportunity-driven leadership, oppositional thinking and a digital mindset are effective ways to protect existing and to grow entirely new value propositions. Various national and international case studies will be used to exemplify emerging threats and opportunities as well as the thinking patterns of resilient and innovative organisations in the Digital Age.
