Management Committee 2011-2012

Arun Kumar (President):

Arun obtained his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1968, MSCE and PhD in Highways from Purdue University USA . His areas of expertise include: infrastructure management, project management, roads, sustainability, institutional strengthening and capacity building. He is co-leading an industry focused project on the development of a sustainability assessment rating methodology for the operation of infrastructure in Australia. Arun is a consultant to the World Bank and is Emeritus Professor, RMIT University.

 

Rajiv Lal (Vice President)

 Rajiv completed his B.Tech from IIT Delhi in 1976.  He has over 36 years experience in the mining industry in leadership roles. Rajiv has a successful record in asset management, process re-engineering, project management, and operations and maintenance roles that cut across a  range of cultures. Among his other activities Rajiv was a graded squash player, and enjoyed hockey and bridge. Rajiv was the initiator of IITaV in 2010.

 

Surinder Lamba (Treasurer)

 Surinder gained B.Tech. (1972) and M.Tech.(1976) degrees in Chemical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi respectively. He also holds post graduate qualifications in Business Management and Industrial Relations. He is currently working as Program Manager/ Director at the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. Surinder is a Judge of the Australian Business Excellence Awards Foundation. He enjoys Yoga, reading and music.

 

Abaran Deep (Secretary)

 Abaran completed his B.Tech from IIT Delhi in 1990. He has been in working as a Management Consultant in Australia since 1995. He currently shares the responsibility of running a consulting firm which helps large businesses transform existing processes or develop new capabilities. Abaran enjoys cycling, woodwork and occasionally listening to the rock groups from the IIT days.

 

Radhey Shyam Gupta (Committee Member)

 Radhey holds B Tech in Textile Technology from IIT Delhi (1971), MBA from University of Mumbai (1978) and M Tech in Internet & Web Technology from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (2001). He works as a Business Analyst for National Australia Bank. Radhey is “Sangeet Visharad” in Indian Classical Music. He plays and teaches Sitar and Vocal music.

 

 

Ravi Bhatia (Committee Member):

 Ravi is a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1970. He is the founder and former long term CEO of Primus Australia, one of the largest telecommunications companies in Australia.  He was previously the President of Primus USA and of Lingo Inc., a leader in the VoIP telephony space. Ravi is regarded as one of the pioneers of telecommunications competition in Australia. He is member of Board of Directors of Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman and President of Australia India Business Council – Victoria.

 

Raj Rajakumar (Committee Member)

 Raj completed B.Tech (Hons) and M Tech degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Bombay and PhD and DIC from the Imperial College of Science & Technology (London University). He has over 40 years experience in leadership roles in academia, research, development and commercialisation. At CSIRO (1982-2011) he led major programs with a number of companies in application of research. He was Director of CSIROs Light Metals National Research Flagship program (2005-2011).

 

Ravi Singh (Committee Member)

 Ravi holds a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Roorkee (1983), an M. Tech from IIT Delhi (1988) and also earned his Executive MBA degree from AGSM. Ravi has over 27 years of business development and general management experience in the electrical power and industrial automation industry. He held various senior leadership roles both in India and Australia with a large multinational company and focused on Energy Management and sustainability in his current role.

 

Yogendra Vashishtha (Committee Member):

 Yogendra did his B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Roorkee (1983), PG Diploma in Management from Bajaj Institute Mumbai (1987) and Ph.D. from IIT Bombay (1996). He has worked in engineering, management and leadership roles for 27 years including 13 years in the Australian energy sector. Yogendra is currently manager for Innovation & Research in one of the largest electricity and gas utilities of Australia. He enjoys meditation, Hindi literature and attempts to write drama, satire and poetry.
