The Indian Institutes of Technology Alumni of Victoria is pleased to invite you to our next networking event with the theme – “The Innovation Paradigm – From iDEA to iNVESTMENT” to  be organised in collboration with The Technology and Innovation Club at Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne.

6:00 PM – 6:30 PM – 30 minute mixer
6:30 PM – 6:45 PM – Dr. Kwang’s talk on “Innovation & Venture Funding” from an academic perspective.
6:45 PM – 7:00 PM – Sameer’s talk on the his experience as an entrepreneur in Australia.
7:00 PM – 7:15 PM – Discussion between Dr. Kwang & Sameer
7:15 PM – 7:30 PM – Audience questions
7:30 PM onwards – Networking/discussions

Key presenters: Dr. Kwanghui Lim, Associate Professor (Strategic Management), PhD (MIT), BEng (NUS) & Sameer Babbar, MD &CEO of SVB group.

Dr. Kwanghui Lim is an experienced teacher, researcher and consultant in the areas of technology management and the commercialisation of innovation.Kwanghui’s research explores the strategies used by firms to manage intellectual property and the commercialisation process.
His doctoral thesis at MIT won the Academy of Management and INFORMS Best Dissertation Award (2001) in the Technology Management area, as well as the 2001 Richard R. Nelson Best Dissertation Award. His current research projects include:
  • The impact of ‘knowledge bridging’ on the performance of biotechnology start-ups;
  • The dynamics of entry in the mobile telecommunications industry;
  • The impact of acquisitions on the innovation performance of inventors;
  • The management of intellectual property at Intel, IBM and other technology-intensive firms.

Sameer Babbar is an entrepreneur and MD of SVB Group.

Previously Sameer has managed business for Australian operations of a large Multinational organisation, a market leader in location based services, business intelligence and decision support. Sameer has held senior executive positions technology sector in Australia, Middle East and India since 1991. Sameer is an IIT and MBS alumnus.

 

 

 

About the venue: Melbourne Business School, located in Carlton is a quick walk from CBD, alternatively you could catch any of the trams going north on Swanston street, if you drive, there are plenty of parking spaces available around Melbourne Uni at that time of the day.
